Carpet estimate

Just wondering if anyone can tell me where I stand.
I found a carpet I like in John Lewis on Tuesday priced at £29 a metre on the Friday three days later I had the estimator out and his estimate is for a price of £31 a metre.
As I need 40 metres thats £80 more to pay.
I went into the shop and the price was indeed showing at £31 but I did'nt query it there and then as I was'nt sure of my rights.
I'm going to go in and ask if the price has gone up in those couple of days as I did jot down (on the estimate form in the shop) in the presence of the assistant when I confirmed the price of £29.
What are my rights if the price has gone up in the couple of days since my estimate, can I insist on the old price or do I have to pay up.
Thanks.

Tell them you're going to have to go and find it somewhere else, they will probably be prepared to haggle.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

...... john Lewis isn't exactly the cheapest place to buy carpets....
I'm pretty certain you will find the same quality of carpet cheaper if you visit a carpet specialistProfit=sanity

If you take your estimate for £31 m2 into the shop floor and tell them that you think the price has gone up since you booked the estimate, they should adjust it for you there and then. In any case they will know if the price has just gone up. You are entitled to receive an estimate for the price as advertised on the shop floor at the time of booking an estimators visit.
However, could it be possible that you noted down the price of another carpet on the estimate confirmation?0 -
an estimate is just that. an estimate.
a quote is very different.
you should have placed the order when it was 29 quid.Get some gorm.0
