Merthyr Wetherspoons - Avoid

Anybody visiting Y Dic Penderyn, Wetherspoon's Merthyr pub, should be warned that it's the pub's policy to use slops from the slop trays topped up with fresh beer from the pumps when serving customers. This is exactly what happened to me a few weeks ago. I caught the barman doing it out of the corner of my eye and there must have been at least half a pint of foul looking slops in my glass being topped up. When I confronted him the barman looked embarrassed and said, "I don't like doing this but I'm told to".

I emailed Wetherspoons and had one of their standard word-processed replies back. Clearly such an occurrence is not exceptional enough to warrant an individual reply!

I only wish now that I’d reported them to Trading Standards and the local Health officials. I suspect that being finned is the only way they’ll stop such disgusting practices.

This must be going on all over South Wales so be warned if you have to visit this chain try and keep as close an eye on what the barman is doing with your glass as possible.

What's to stop you reporting them now exactly?

The clincher would seem to be 'wether' or not they're actually doing anything wrong by encouraging or instructing bar staff to do this.

Best check your facts before posting such comments on here, or anywhere, really. Best thing you could have done was report it to the proper authorities at the time, as they could have had CCTV checked. That won't be available now, since it's usually deleted after 30 days. And if you go to the authorities now, they will want to know why you didn't go to them sooner. How very embarrassing for you.
