Hi all
My partner had an accident in April 2007 and they reduced are ncd to 3 years We renewed in may and so on and so on ......
I've just got my renewal and it says 5 years surely We should have 7 by now. I don't know if it would make a big difference to premium but surely not the point

You could google it and find out that 5 years is usually the max you can earn.

Have you spoken to the insurance company to ask why they are only showing 5 years NCD instead of the expected 7 years ?
There is an explanation of No Claims Bonuses here:

It is likely that your insurance company only ever go to a max of 5 years.
So, if you transfer your policy to a new insurer at any time, if the new insurer allows more than 5 years NCD then you need to ask them to take into account the actual number of years rather than the 5 years being reported on your renewals.
Also, check any previous renewal notices if you have kept copies, this will confirm when your NCD went to 5 years.

As other have said - most likely explanation is company starts at 5.
But you are right it makes very little difference to the premium.0
