Is this a good printer deal? Epson SX415 All in One Colour Printer, £39.99 (£10 off) at Argos?
I mostly want it just to print the odd B&W page, maybe longer print runs from time to time, so something simpler would be fine too, but they don't seem to make simple printers any more! I thought about getting a 2nd hand one but seems a bit more hassly somehow (prefer not to use ebay), also i prefer something reasonably compact. In any case i guess having scan/copy facilities would be handy occasionally.
My main criteria is to be able to refill it cheaply - i understand the older epsons like this can take generic refills so much cheaper?
Is that right?

I have a couple of those and they are good for what you have mentioned.
UKDVDR and bigpockets are reliable suppliers of compatible cartridges, genuine cartridges have an anti clog additive, so if you use it occasionally, run a weekly nozzle check, you can use the same piece of paper for this by turning it and also cutting off the used part.

I have an SX515W and you can get cheap replica cartridges off amazon/inkclub.co.uk fairly cheaply. I had an epson previous to this and that was a good printer too.

I looks a good deal with cheap ink and may be ideal if you don't print much. As I print more I wanted one that does duplex printing (automatically prints on both sides of the paper) and I wanted wi-fi so I paid £127 recently from Dixons for a PX720WD (www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/epson-stylus-photo-px720wd-wireless-multifunction-inkjet-printer-06935881-pdt.html). Replica cartridges for that one work out 50p each on Ebay!0

A cheap b&w laser would be cheaper to run, especially for sporadic use!!
