Didn't you recently have a bike stolen Henry?:D
Yes. :p Bought this lock for my new bike though. The old one wasn't locked at all. :(

Cable locks are essentially a waste of time, even the chunky ones - my old bike was locked up with one of those at the station, nicked, looked like one chomp with a pair of bolt cutters.

I have a Kryptonite D lock for insurance purposes but its restrictive due to its small size (hard to lock frame and wheel to the rack half the time).

So I went to B&Q and got a whopping great chain, bolt cropper proof, clad in nice flexi plastic stuff and combine that with a nice secure padlock. All for £20. Get through that you mutha f*****s

    Bolt cropper proof? For £20?

    I think not.

Also beware of your padlock. Unless both are 19mm+ you are certainly vulnerable. Bolt croppers are not the only attack either...

You say that but a bolt cutter will get through a D Lock (or a chain) as fast as a cable lock if it is big enough. I was sceptical about this at first until I actually saw one in action.

The best thing to do is keep a lock as a deterant but make sure you have the appropriate insurance. I'm not sure there is any way you can secure a bike so it absolutely cant be stolen.
