They do have some odd habits. We had one that preferred to wee in puddles.

This is what I thought this might bejackieblack wrote: »The only reason I can think of is that maybe his eyesight has started to deteriorate a bit and he is finding it hard to judge where the surface of the water is. I agree with your first thought.
One of my cats does it and always has and I think he struggles to get the water level right, but he will dip his paw in to get the surface of the water moving and then drink. If yours has just started this I would go with losing sight, particularly bearing in mind his ripe old age _ how old approx was he when you got him?0 -

Not sure, he was quite under-nourished with ribs showing through his fur, wasn't fully grown but wasn't a tiny kitten either. The vet thought probably somewhere between 6mths and 1year old.
If that is right it means he's about 17 - 17 1/2 years old now.
I think he might be going a bit deaf too2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
