DELL!!!!!!!!! - great service!! (no really!)

Options
Never thought I'd read it never mind post it.....

Dell have come through for me on one of the cheap laptops fom February/March.

The battery has died on my Dell Ispiron 1300. As it's approaching a year old I thought they'd tell me to get stuffed due to usage etc, expected life of a battery is a year/300 cycles etc...

I went through the online support and after a couple of emails and checks got a confirmation that the battery was stuffed and the new one arrived today - less than 5 days (including a weekend).

There have been horror stories in the past about Dell, but they have been very efficient and fair with me and I can't express how pleased I am with them.

Thanks gigantic corporation underpaying staff in the Indian subcontinent - your service has been brilliant.

Did anyone read an artical in one of the tabloids in August/September about exploding laptop battries?

Apparently there were 4m batteries that had to be recalled. It may just be that all your batteries were at point of ignition when they failed and Dell didn't want any more bad publicity.

As for their excellent Customer Service, no need to worry. My guess is that'll soon be sorted with a further training programme and normal sloppy service will be resumed in the near future.

I have never had a problem with dell they are always good service, as for the batteries, they were sony batteries that dell used, these are now being replaced as a recall but if anyone didnt kknow about the recall they will still get a replacement as part of it.

I've had 4 computers from Dell over 10 years and I've not had any problems.

My only comment is that the last monitor I had came with a plastic press in Dell logo (rebrabded sanyo I think) which just screamed 'cheap' at me.

    Try emailing UKI_TS_Inspiron_Support@dell.com
You could try quoting Sale of Goods Act - fit for purpose etc.
I actually took an extended warranty in October - original ended in May.
Ended up at £50 for 3 years - battery included, so not too bad.
