Can anyone think of a field I can get into with more money?

I currently teach English to adults. I can't get enough hours, so I don't have enough money.

I need something with more money even if it's not a great job for now. As long as it's stable.

Any ideas?

I thought about training to be a school teacher, but there are no training bursaries for English so that one's probably out.

  • Do you have a degree? You can do a graduate teacher programme if so- 12 months based in a school - you get paid about 15k which you do it. English at 2ndry is quite sought after by schools.

If you are catholic and male go primary - head teacher within 5 years on 60 k.

Proof-reading? I have no idea if any of the companies who advertise online to train you to become one are OK or not, but you could see if you could pick up any work locally.

If this is Basic Skills English, would it help to diversify into Basic Maths? Although it might still be unreliable in terms of hours!

    Words taken from my mouth....

If you've got no ties, then seriously you should consider moving abroad.

This country is going to the dogs.
