Need a recipe for scampi please

I bought some frozen whitby scampi on a bogof last week and my family loved it.
There is no way I would buy it full price ( even at bogof it was a bit much), so I would like to try to make my own.
I buy the bags of frozen SP prawns and have tried to cover them with batter and fry them, but I am finding it hard to get them nice and crispy and looking more like scampi, and less like pakoras!
Any recipes gratefully received.
BTW, I looked but couldn't find any recipes. Feel free to move to the 'scampi recipe thread' that I am sure is lurking around:D

Normal freshwater/ king prawns Prawns arnt scampi
Langoustines/ Dublin bay prawns ( same families) are scampi. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

In the '70's Scampi wasn't langoustine, but monkfish! You could try monkfish goujons, battered and fried0

Yes it was monkfish, however now its more expensive! so they have gone back to using Dublin Bay prawns again!
Ive been pondering this, I think unless you happen to live somewhere coastal, the frozenscampi are the cheapest as the cost of the actual seafood is expensive no matter what! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Thanks guys. I suppose it is a bit much to try to make shrimps into something that looks like scampi. There has to be some way that I can fry them up nice and crispy and spicy tho.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I've done a quick search, but can't find anything.
I bought a bag of lovely frozen king prawns a couple of weeks ago and still haven't used them because DH isn't really that keen on prawns. He likes them in batter, so I was hoping to sneak them into a curry - no go!
He does like scampi though, so I was wondering whether anyone has some recipes for scampi, or is it just a case of egg, breadcrumbs, deep fryer?
Thanks!
