I am currently using Microsoft Money on my PC. I know that it is no longer supported and there are no links with online banking etc, however, it works fine what I need.
I recently bought a laptop and want to install MSM. I understand that my copy can only be installed on one computer but am wondering if it would be possible to move it to my laptop and remove it from my PC?
I don't want to loose all my data!
I am not very clever at tech things so any way of making the move would need to be pretty simple!

You can back up the Money file on one computer and restore it to another, or just move it across on a USB stick.
In fact you could keep the Money .MNY file on a USB stick if you preferred.
You will also need the Money program disk to install Money first.

Thanks Owain. I hope you don't mind if I ask for a little more advice...
I found the Microsoft Money disc and installed the programme on my lap top. I wasn't confident enough to transfer the data so decided to have a fresh start and enter the data manually. However, I was dismayed to see that all the figures were classed as $ rather than £! I thought that I must have missed something, so I uninstalled the programme and then reinstalled it, watching carefully for a promt to choose the type of currency I wanted to use. There wasn't one and, again, all entries are in $.
I can change the currency separately for each account I enter but the totals remain in $.
This did not happen with the initial installation on my PC.
Is there anything I can do, or shall I have to learn to live with it!0 -
Here's how to do it:-
- On the Tools menu, click Settings.
- Click Program settings.
- Under Currency, click Update Currencies.
- Under Country/Region, select the currency you want to use as your base, and then click Set as Base Currency.
- Click OK.

It worked fine for me. I installed the program on my new computer and then after checking it was ok copied the money file across from old to new via USB stick. All data there and has worked well for 3+ months now.0
