Hi.
We have picasa 3 installed on our computer....this seems to pull all photos from our computer into it (seems to scan when started up) so that images can be used. Does anyone know of a way to stop this happening or how to allocate a folder where pictures will not be pulled from....in essence I want to have some pics on the pc but do not want them pulled into the picasa programme so everyone can see them...any way to do this?

thanks

  • Open Picasa...Tools> Folder Manager> Select Folders, then place a X (remove from Picasa) against any folders that you do not want Picasa to scan for pics. Hope that helps?

wow....thankyou, I have been searching for that very function for ages
perhaps you could help also..... picasa seems to scan all the folders selected everytime it opens....what is the difference between scan once and scan everytime....does it simply mean that it will scan once only and never again even if new pics added and scan everytime means it will always scan everytime it starts?

You've got it. Scan every time only detects if something has changed since the last scan, so it's very quick after the first scan and you shouldn't notice it.

What this means is that if you have My Photos set for scan every time and you subsequently add photos into that folder (or a subfolder), then Picasa will find the new photos next time it starts up.

Picasa is meant to be user-friendly and it is!
