Hello nickc

Welcome to the MSE site.

I'll move your thread to the 'Benefits, Tax Credits & Jobseeking' board, where it should get more responses.

Good luck with your job hunt.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Regards

• If you have a printer/copier, I would type up a one page mini CV and go into your nearest town/shopping centre and pop into all the businesses, politelky ask whether the Manager is available for a few moments and offer a copy to each one.

It's Christmas and most retail outlets could do with an extra pair of hands (stocking, cleaning, clearing tables etc).

Dress neatly and just look clean and presentable (though not overboard otherwise they won't envisage you stacking boxes in the back room). Explain that you're looking for any work they can offer over the busy period - f you do get in, do a good job and they may not want to let you go.

Good Luck. I have a 17yr still in school and I appreciate you wish to be able to buy little pressies for the family etc. Nothing wrong with wanting to take part in giving as well as receiving. :)
Integrity is a dying art!:p
• I'm just 17, and have had a saturday job for nearly 6 months now. Before I got this job, I literally tried everywhere... every shop... restaurant...with no luck.
Please don't give up trying! Get some advice from the internet about CVs and what to do in an interview situation, and if you don't give up, you can't lose! Christmas is the best time to ask because most shops are desparate for people to work boxing day etc.
I'm on £5.52 an hour (double pay at Christmas Eve/New years eve) which is helping for the future immensely!

Good luck!!!
