Credit Card Application

Hi there,

I recently submitted an application for a Vanquis Credit Card with the minimum credit limit in order to try and build myself a credit history. I am 18 and just about to finish my A level exams and head off to university in September and so I wanted to try and build a responsible credit history to aid in any credit applications in the future if I need them. Ireceived a phone call today from Vanquis today who after checking a couple of questions informed me my application was successful and after the mandatory statements told me I would receive it shortly.

Now the purpose of this post is in regards to the application information I provided. I used to work part time in a local restaurant but since my mother has started full time employment I don't have time for work, school and to help at home. As Im needed to help at home I get money from my mother each month. This is mainly to support myself and my brother as she doesn't have time to. This money isn't given to me for frivolous intentions, it is used to buy the shopping and any other items my brother or I need as my mum hasn't got a lot of spare time to get it. I am therefore unemployed but I do have an income every month from my mother.

On the application they asked for my annual household income and I took this to be the income for my house and so I told them my mother’s annual income and when they asked what my main occupation was I told them the truth, that I am a student at my local Sixth Form. They didn't ask if I had a part time job and the only question about money was in regards to my annual household income.

What I am asking is that although I have answered their questions accurately is this seen as obtaining credit with false information.

Thanks
