Its a good move if you are not going to cry over losing it for the rest of your lives. You can offer just 1 or 2 k more, to show good faith and then walk away as you have tried. Depends how much you want the house really0

we've seen a house we really like that's on the market for £145.000, ticks all the boxes, excellent location for schools for the kids etc...

The highest we can go is 142K.
The estate agent will phone me on monday, I'm sticking to my guns & say 135k is our (final) offer on the table, cash buyer, no chain & if the vendors refuse (again), then we move forward with the other house.

Not. If it ticks all the boxes then it's worth a little bread and water IMO. I would personally give it £2000 extra before pulling out.Pants0
