some lovely ideas. I made a start at the weekend and went to a local sweet shop that had just opened and bought some sherbert pips and flying saucers, also blackjack chews! I have also found a silver sixpence from her year of birth made into a charm, am going to go in the loft to look at photos, think I may also make a bookmark with a poem about sisters on it or something, also thought of nice choccies, champagne and have also bought a nice necklace which was in a sale. Am also going to look for perfume, face cream, and little sachets of face masks, foot soaks and maybe a book, also can remember her dressing up in bay city roller gear so am going to get her a bay city roller cd and a tartan scarf!!

Hope you don't mind me jumping onto 123budget's thread but I am about to do the same for my husband's 40th. Have borrowed some ideas but wondered if anyone had any more which are specifically man-friendly?

I need to keep under £50 so a rough budget of £1-ish average per present - I can spend more on some as long as I can balance them out with things that are cheap or free!!

123budget, if I were your sister I would love to find some indulgent treats in there. Online cosmetics sites like ELF and halfpriceperfumes often have really good value treats. Maybe some new nail varnish/lipstick, a hand cream, lovely smellies etc?

Saw this thread & stupidly suggested it to my DH as an idea for his sister's 50th - surprisingly he went for it the problem is her birthday's in 2 weeks!

Anyway so far we've thought of candles, anti-wrinkle cream (!), saga mag, incontinence pads (!), anti-aging joke pills (found a free template for a label & going to fill an old pill bottle with smarties or tic-tacs), senior moments mints (Past Times), beaded name keyring (from this forum), David Cassidy fridge magnet, Osmonds cd, we've trawled the net & come up with a page of facts for her birth date, also 50th birthday quotes, 50 jokes. A perfect man (gingerbread man with poem). I am 50 badge, party poppers, sparklers, plus a lot of the things that you've mentioned.

Hope this helps - we're up to 40+ ideas (10+ are bought & wrapped :T) & if we have some duplicates in there (e.g. more than 1 face mask) so be it. Good luck!

there are some good things being given away with magazines - keep an eye on them, i have recently got a barry m mascara and a body shop small pot of shea butter for the cost of magazine (which is about half the retail price of items)

• Comforter bubble bars from Lush - but only if she would like a bath that smells like a sweet shop and is as girly as they come!!
  
• Montagne Jeunesse face masks are cheap but good quality - I can recommend the Self-Heating Fudge Sauna one.
  
• There are loads of products I use regularly that I always appreciate as gifts because they're a bit more expensive - things like the Body Shop’s Vitamin E Hand & Nail Treatment or something from their new Natrulift range.
• Bottle something sparkly - Marks and Spencer’s ‘Pink’ Fizz is cheap (£3.99 but often 2 for £6) and cheerful and everyone I know loves it!
  
• A subscription to a magazine? I get Delicious (cookery) magazine (6 issues for £9.99 on their website currently)
• Does she like to bake? If so, fancy cupcake cases from ‘Cakes, Cookies and Crafts’ online shop always make me happy (simple things/simple minds...I know, I know!)
  
• Amazon Gift Certificate – great if she has a Kindle but equally good for buying anything else...books always seem to be cheapest on Amazon.
  
• A Pret/Starbucks/Costa Card – a posh coffee now and then is an even bigger treat when you don't have to pay for them!

I did this for my husband's 50th a couple of years ago and he loved it. We wrapped up 50 gifts, some were things we knew he liked, some linked to his year of birth and some joke things with labels attached so he had to try and guess what was inside before opening each gift. Our three adult children all contributed and, as two were students with little money at the time, their presents included various 'vouchers' with promises of things they would do for him etc. Many of the gifts werevery cheap or even free but a few were more expensive luxury items. This is what we ended up with:
