Angry - who do I complain to?

I am furious! I ordered a secret santa present from Play.com and it was delivered today, not particularly packaged well.
My issue is the box was too big to post through the letter box, but the postman has squashed the box down and shoved it through, damaging both the box and the item inside - the condition of the item is so poor that I would be unable to give it as a present.
I have tried phoning Royal Mail and only get through to their customer services number which gives me one option of listening to their Christmas arrangements.
So who do I complain to in this matter - Play for not packaging the item well or Royal Mail for being negligent with my post?

Thanks Lone Ranger, have phoned Play and they are going to replace the item free of charge for me.
I just worry now in case the post man does the same thing0 -
If it happens on the second occasion I would probably complain to royal mail. They usually leave you a card saying to collect from the sorting office with a tick in the box saying "too big for letter box"
Although saying that, in my experience if you complain to Ryl Mail, the response you get is loads of forms to fill in, and then if you are really lucky you might get some free stamps.
Hope you have better luck this time.0
