Hi
Can someone please advise as im going nuts trying to work it out
I have one window which is 180cms (72") wide. I want them at 90" drops to the floor. The other window is 120cms (48") wide and want them at 90" drop too.
I want a good gather on them both, but want them to open OK to, IYKWIM
I was thinking of 66"x90" for the 120cms window and 90"x90" for the 180cm window?!....does this sound OK or are they too wide?
I have googled and people suggest 1.5-2 times the amount for gather.
My brain is not working and Im confused. Please can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,
requires brains!

You want roughly twice the width so if your window is 72" wide, each curtain needs to be roughly 72" wide. How far will the curtains pull back from the window? If the track or pole doesn't go out far beyond the window and the curtains are very full you may find that they partially cover the window when drawn back.
If you mean that each curtain is 90" x 90" I think that may be too full for your 72" wide window.

I've always bought my curtains the same size as the window, it took me a while to work out that each curtain was 90"!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

Hello are you going to buy ready made curtains or make them/have them made.
You need to decide what type of heading tape that you wish to use and if making them find out what width the fabric is. Then it can be worked out. There are so many headings these days but the most common is a deep pencil pleat heading which looks best with 2 to 2.5 the window width. The fuller they are however the more space they will take up when drawn back.
However, if you can you make the track/pole longer so they draw back further.
Hope to help if I can!:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
