I don't like gift aid, and I fact generally don't agree to it, for for charities, which I believe should be governemnt funded anyway, I will agree to gift aid - mainly hospice services and similar services.
By agreeing to gift aid, you are diverting your taxes from the general taxation pot, to a specific charity.
This therefore lowers the general taxation, and there is 2 possible outcomes of this either an increase in taxes or a decrease in public expenditure.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
I hadn't realised that I was potentially being charged extra for Gift Aiding my admission price until I checked out the entry cost for Slimbridge Wildlife and Wetlands Trust. I have always gift-aided in the past but will be extra vigilant from now on.0

From April 2013, no declaration needed. The church can claim under the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme. On cash donations of less than £20, they can claim 25%, regardless of who donated it. This applies on up to £5000 total donations per year.Plus, if you went to a church or something, and put a quid in a donation box, can you also stick in a declaration so they can giftaid that pound?koru0 -
I always refuse to gift aid never felt embarrassed saying no and always check price before I go it's strange how they ask for gift aid but still have donation boxes around the place.I donate to charity of my own free will gift aid feels like it's forced.0
