Advice please: payments due

Hi fellow money savers.

I have posted this on DFW so apologies if you have read it before!

....my OH has got large debts with 3 creditors (total £21000) As he was made redundant, they have increased because he didn't talk to me about it and borrowed from one to pay the other. He forgot he had been paying PPI on all these debts

Now I know about it we are trying to sort it out. I work and cover all the household bills, mortgage etc and the small amount of debt I have is serviced. I can not help him out of this situation as there is no extra money...have been shopping around for cheaper deals, reducing spending etc on the household. In the light of all his problems I have now set budgets and can begin to save a small amount each month, but this is not enough to help him out. Hubby is at home looking after our children, and is looking for work around my hours or a well paid job to cover childcare and debts.

He has been diagnosed with depression, and our GP is great in helping him. He contacted CAB and has the forms to complete. He has also contacted the creditors and explained the situation. He is now trying to claim for PPI cover due to the redundancy. But the insurance are dragging their heels about the decision and payments are due end of this week.

I had suggested that he wrote to them and gave a token payment towards the debt. What do you think or is there another option? the creditors say they will refund if the claim is agreed.

Does anyone have any experience about using PPI?......:o
