I need to get this off my chest - shame I couldn't get it ON my chest!

Options
On Wednesday I ordered 2 of these dress from Additions, one black, one orange in size 8.
http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/south-petite-drape-halter-maxi-dress/886072036.prd?browseToken=%2fb%2f1933%2fs%2fbestsellers%2c0&trail=1589-1932-1933&prdToken=/p/prod7497841-sku11954435
I'm 5 feet tall and weigh 7 stone, so I am definitely petite. The dresses arrived yesterday, so after my 15 hour stint at my local polling station, I was really looking forward to trying them on.
I couldn't put either dress on!
That doesn't mean that they were a little tight around the chest. It means that I couldn't get them past my shoulders, and could only get one leg in, with a little room to spare!
I've already arranged for the dresses to be collected, but I'm very disappointed as they looked really nice on the website.
Ah well, at least nobody was hurt.

Gosh I wish I was size 8, in would snap in half. Ok, they do not fit. Reject under DSR. Just follow their returns and no harm should be done

Lawd knows how we all hate clothes sizing. Currently in a large from Boohoo which certainly has room in it... and I'm an 18. Madness! I wouldn't normally even be able to shop from boohoo...

I know - I just wish there was a standard for sizing, cos clearly size 8,10, 12 etc means nothing! I can be anything from a size 8 to a size 14 and my weight certainly does not fluctuate more than a 1kg or so.
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

ive noticed for years that womens sizes are never uniform it doesnt matter if its tops, underwear, jackets etc usually though i tend to find the 'trendy' shops size on the small side and the everyday shops like bhs,m&s tend to size on the bigger side or nearer to the truer size.i ve never heard a man complain about mens clothing sizing?!

could it be the lady thinks shes a size 8?:p my wife makes the same mistake often, that figure hugging outfit on the 18 year old model in the catalogue seems NOT to hide the large amounts of excess flesh when she tries it on. she put a new pair of jeans on on sunday last and ask the eternal womans question "does this make my bum look big"?Being her husband of many years I naturally told her "no its all the sweets and cake you eat":rotfl::rotfl: And yes im sleeping in the spare room now.:(:(
counting down the time I got left.:beer:

Oh, I ordered some jeans from JD Williams and was pleased with the fit and cut when they arrived so I ordered another pair in a different colour, exactly the same size.... Of course they don't bloody fit.

Also TU at Sainsbury seem to fluctuate wildly so I have a pile of clothes that I can currently wear and another pile that I look forward to getting into soon.

You can't even go by the size guide on the websites because the clothes don't match the measurements they say they are.

I don't buy any clothes online because of the frustration and hassle of having to return items, and I always take a tape measure out with me when I go out clothes shopping.

Yes, I'm definitely a size 8-10. :p No delusions here! I'll tell your wife you asked though, then you'll be sleeping in the garden shed! :rotfl:

Agree about Tu, I have several things from them that are labelled the same size and range from 'not a hope in hell' to 'room for another person'!

I get so annoyed with that too! And another thing that annoys is when the shops 'fit' the clothes on the shop mannequin. You can't tell how it should look when they pin and tuck them on to the dummies. A top that on the shop model nips in at the waist and skims the hips, can in reality make you look like Demis Roussos! You can't buy anything without trying it on first.
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!
