as long as the solicitors move as quickly as the buyer & seller then most completion dates are achievable.

of course if you don't have anywhere to go then it changes if it is worth accepting the offer but as you put the house on the market to sell you have to also decide if turning down this offer is worth it!

although rentals are normally for 6 months there are companies that offer short term rentals (try googling that phase for uk pages only) the best choices will be in large cities and the price will be higher but your not tied in for 6 months.

If your near a holiday area you might be able to get a furnished holiday let for 2-3 months but we are in holiday season so the price maybe as high as staying in a hotel!

Our buyer had indicated that she may be able to stay in a hotel for a few days if the completion dates didn't quite line up, so that gives us a tiny bit of flexibility. The EA said she was ecstatic when told her offer had been accepted. I guess this means she will be prepared to be flexible if necessary.

Our solicitor says they think it will be doable, as long as nothing goes wrong.

Looking for a short-term rental is our backup plan should we fail to get either of the properties we are trying to buy, but with a young child I'm not keen on the idea of moving twice. The good news is that it's looking like we may be heading towards having an offer accepted today... fingers crossed. :)

Whats wrong with renting for a while and you might do well out of it seeming as prices are falling fast..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

As I said, renting is the backup plan.
