Hi,
Recently switched to Primus Home Phone Max via Homephonechoices.co.uk. Took the twleve month contract, price quoted £10.00 for line rental and £2.79 for the plan (free any time calls)
Just had my first months e bill ,very poor laid out bill but it would appear they want to charge me £1.11 for a couple of calls not included ,no arguements there but line charges work out at £17.06 for the month.
Can they do this,if so is it possible to get out of this contract?
Only switched over because I saw this deal being pushed by Martin Lewis.

They should only charge you the price you agreed to, as advertised

Is the bill for more then a month are they charging for calling features ?0 -
If you change to Primus line rental, they carry over any calling features you have with your previous supplier so, if you had free Caller Display, you will pay for Primus Caller Display unless you tell them you don't want that feature.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Not aware of having caller display, certainly never used it as don't have any caller display phones. Left B.T and had free any time calls with them could that have been included even though i didn,t use it?0

No they would not be charging you for a BT Call Bundle ,can you give us a breakdown of the bill ?0

All appears to be correct.Just spoke to the customer services girl in India and see explained that line charges are for part month that i've been with them plus the next month in advance.
Prices work out as quoted, the bill given is very poor ,no breakdown of line charges and no mention of paying for period in advance ,thanks folks for quick replies0 -
Hi Al Ross,
Thanks for posting back about your call to them, saves me a call.
Ive been charged a couple of quid extra on my bill too and wondering why. I had considered if its for more then one month as this is the first bill Ive had since the switch in 22March but like you theres no breakdown on the bill as such.
Anyway I'll leave it till the next bill now and see what happens.0 -
So the bill was for more then a month as i expected.:D0

Tip re Primus bills that I just found out the hard way.
The online "View" is a lousy view with the "Detail" only giving calls.
When you log-in to your Primus a/c and E-Billing, the first display is a LIST of bills (ie just 1 for new customer like me) - on the right is a really basic list of options, eg
25xx-279xxxx05 May 11£ 14.52 view - csv - print - query
If you click the "PRINT" option it brings up a "view" that is COMPLETE - ie includes the breakdown of the "other charges/credits/adjustments" - ie the line rental to (a) bring upto date of bill (b) prepay the next calendar month.
Would have saved a 20 minute "your call is very important to me" queue for the (apparently) Indian call-centre lady to help me by revealing that.
Have to say their online e-billing navigation is primitive/confusing, though once you get to the full bill information it's reasonably presented.
MKD
PS
Just off to start a thread sharing this as seems many confused, as I was, by their prima facie "concealment" of the detailed "Charges/credits/adjustments" if you DO the obvious ie "view" and then "View detail".0 -
I just called to query my bill and was told the same as Heinz, "If you change to Primus line rental, they carry over any calling features you have with your previous supplier so, if you had free Caller Display, you will pay for Primus Caller Display unless you tell them you don't want that feature. " Cost £2.28 a month, on a £7.99 deal that I signed up to after seeing it highlighed by moneysavinexpert in January 11:( They said they would now cancel the caller display service but no refunds for last months as I hadn't called their support line. I emailed them twice using the customer services address on the bill but never got a reply. Customer Service person said I should have called them as email is only for disputes...and said I must have used wrong address anyway! Even though I said I copied and pasted the address from the bill. BTW, isn't it against the terms of direct debits for suppliers to take for services over and above the agreement?0
