Car insurance query

I renewed my car insurance by auto-renew on 30th April . I have new certificate but the money has not left my bank account . I phoned insurance company today to query this and was told the money had been taken by them . They called finance dept and they confirmed the account number they had used , it was correct and they again confirmed they had recieved payment . I then called my bank who told me nothing has been taken by insurance company and nothing is pending and to speak to insurance company again . I did this and they again confrimed they have had the payment in full and the account number used . I am not trying to get out of paying this money and have moved it into my savings account .

Maybe you should put it back before they cancel your insurance, if you're really not trying to get out of paying?

The insurance company have had the payment as confirmed by them twice and if there had been a problem they would have contacted me before they cancelled the policy . I have only moved it as i dont want a large amount of money in my current account at the moment as i have used this card on the Playstation Network. My overdraft will cover the insurance payment anyway and i am going to check balance online every day anyway.So i am not trying to get out of paying.

A similar thing happened to me and I was messed around for trying to pay them. Looking back at it I wish I didnt help them sort it out.

Call them and record the call, then you will have some solid evidence,

Make sure the funds are in the bank incase they delay the payment, or its DD, or on a credit card etc..

If you later get cancelled or something happens then you have the proof that you tried.
And its not your fault so I wouldn't worry about it

Yes, the insurance company will put their hand up and take the blame. (Not)
But you will have to declare you have had insurance cancelled every time you get a quote, not them.

Does anyone have any idea how i sort this , i have asked my insurance company to take the money again but they cant as on their system its saying fully paid and it wont allow them to take it again . As i have said from the start i am not trying to get out of paying and was on the phone for nearly 2 hours today trying to sort it but getting nowhere . The insurance company cant help as its paid on there system and the bank cant help as there is nothing pending . I have checked on askmid.com and its saying i am insured .

Why not go with the flow - presumably someone is so far unaware their account has been raided and money taken in error for your premium.

When they discover the missing money they will start jumping up and down, and an audit will discover that your account has still to be debited.

Then it will quickly be sorted!

First thing they'll do it try to take it though, so the money needs to be there. (Or the overdraft)
