Wood-effect venetian blinds

I chanced upon this on ebay and was wondering whether anyone had them. They are vinyl meant to look like wood and are £19 instead of £79 for my window 175 w by 145 high. Or are they just cheap and tacky?! :rotfl:

Well my mate makes blinds for a living and showed me "wood effect" venetian as he said real wood blinds in a sunny window were a pain as if you don't take care of them they warp/crack etc.

Anyway the ones he had looked quite nice, can't comment on those but just to let you know there are nice ones around.

I have seen these in a curtain shop, although I do think its a cheap alternative, you get what you pay for and it might grate on you that they arent the real deal :D

I know how expensive wooden blinds are, I managed to get some for a small window half price, £22 knocked down from nearly £45 in 'Paul Simon' last year :)

I could always go for 2 blinds on the one window from IKEA. Total price £39

  • I have wooden blinds and they are a pain in the !!!!! to keep clean. They are dust magnets and you loose alot of warmth through them. We are just in the process of going back to curtians as a i feel the cold badly.

  • hope you havn't bought them yet, if they are aluminium with a wood print you'll be ok. If however they are vinyl then give them 3 months before they start 'drooping' and dipping between the cords that support the slats.
  • I bought real wood venetians in a lovely dark cherry stain (3 foot width) to match my sash window frames - they look great (very colonial!) and I got the lot from Matalan for a good price about 3 years ago....can't remember for the life of me exactly how much they were tho'.
I'd certainly steer clear of plastic.

Ikea do the wooden blinds - very reasonable prices too. They come in beech, mahogany and white colours.

    Thanks

I haven't bought the yet but I think I will go to IKEA for the wooden ones. I dpn't think that I want vinyl now... I will have curtains as well. I just need to be able to slant them so our LCD TV can't be seen through the window before it is dark

    Thanks for your help
