Benefits Advisor vs Tax credits calculator

So, i a self employed wedding stationer, and i recieve child tax credits and so and so forth...I have a partner and when his lease is up on his place we are thinking about him moving in here with me and my daughter. simple enough, obviously we'd inform all the right people as to not risk overpayment etc....

However..ive been using the benefit calculator online just to see where we would stand financially and it all seems to be pretty ok, not excellent but what is these days? it basically says we'd get child tax credits and working tax credits, i know it says estimate but it asks some pretty detailed info. I then had quick look at the tax credits calculator...using the same info although it doesnt ask as many details and it says we'd get half the amount of child tax credit than the benefits calculator and no working tax credit. I find this extremely confusing, especially when looking at the working tax credit entitlement tables and they indicate that we'd be entitled to working tax credits as well....can anyone clear this up for me?

If you can give at least a vague idea of money coming in and number of children and hours worked I am sure someone will be able to give an estimate.
