There's nothing in it that "smells" edited or authored recently to me, I'm assuming its a copy / paste of the pdf but I've requested a copy of the original in pdf format.
I think Dunstonh means it "smells" recently authored as you are saying the date shows it was made today. If they have it on file it should have been just attached to an email and sent it to you - no need to copy. The details would then have shown the original date.0 -
dunstonh, I've sent the report to the email address you provided, hope you received it without a problem.
I've since received a pdf file version but the creation date is also the same. It looks like it's just a pdf created from the scan of a paper document which would explain why the date is recent.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
Just for the public record, I want to say a huge thank you to dunstonh for all the help and patience over the last few days. It's most encouraging to know the world isn't full of greedy, unpleasant people.
For those others who replied thank you, I've decided to pursue a complaint so how that ends... i'll let you know.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
To conclude this thread for those who took the time to help, I've now received a five figure rebate settlement from the advisor that moves the initial charge incurred on the bond/trust well within what I believe was the market average at the time.
It's a credit to the (now ex) advisor that he behaved in an amicable, professional and honourable manner. Despite having offered complex advice and time he clearly felt was worth the expense I decided to challenge the cost and after several meetings and much correspondence to try and resolve the matter, reached a satisfactory agreement.
During this time I've received a huge amount of help in identifying where the technical flaws and inaccuracies in the plan and comparisons he advised were and what I might reasonably have expected to pay for similar advice.
I pursued a rebate based on market average charging and the net result is a reimbursement which has adjusted the original cost of the advice from 7% initial to a far more reasonable 2.3%
I decided an additional sum on top of the rebate for the hassle of having the dispute was called for. Having obtained that too, it moves the initial fee to 1% and leaves me feeling the difficulty and stress involved was worthwhile.
Thanks again, without a post on MSE forum and the superb help from dunstonh, none of what has unfolded over the last 2-3 months would have happened.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0
