er, I wasn't actually being serious when I said resort to crime! I was just trying to illustrate the lengths we'd have to go to to afford the fees. Not actually suggesting this a realistic option!

Anyway, I think we'll just plug on with the state. Was just an option we looked into, didn't work out so we're moving on.

Also remember that some private schools are not very good - they offer bursaries to get clever less well-off kids in. Their exam results then look better than if they had to rely on on the cream (rich, thick & full of clots).
I wouldn't worry a bit, just offer lots of support to your child and they will do as well as they can.

    Have you thought of alternatives?
We lives close to a private school and although I would love to send my children there I could possibly afford one but not both. I wouldn't even consider sending one without the other.
The local schools aren't in good shape so we have decided to move house to another town who's schools are some of the best in the country. Yes I'm paying double in house prices for half the size of house but if it means my children get a decent education it's got to be worth it. Plus the school fees of a private school could never be recouped but my house will always be there.
