Inspection Trips for Property in Spain (Atlas International)

Just a cautionary note on Turkey and Northern Cyprus: Property prices are rising well in Turkey, and there are great deals to be had, however this is being pushed up by the possibility of them becoming part of the EU. which has been set back 10 years. Part of the deal involves Turkey handing back North Cyprus to Greece, therefore any greeks who were ousted from their land back in the 70s by Turks may have a claim on your new property in Northern Cyprus, the reason that prices are much cheaper than Southern Cyprus.0

I dont know if I am allowed to do this .Can I give the info for avery reliable couple who would help you all the way with house buying in southern Spain. They will hold your hand all through the process and would be there for you afterwards as long as you wanted them.
Please do. You may send me a PM, thanks. Problem now is my parents' flight goes to Madrid and we've now realised its several hours journey to get from Madrid to any of the property hotspots. Depending on which area the couple suggests we may have to get Easyjet to alter our destination arrangements. Bearing in mind the flight is on Tuesday I hope this is possible without hefty penalty charges. The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -
Easyjet allows for changes with a £17.50 charge which we are happy to pay. (BA charges about £50 so could be worse). I would appreciate any destination suggestions - somewhere that is not too saturated with rentals but still offers good prospects.
Thank you for the replies. All very useful info. The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -
For people 'getting on a bit' I would definitely recommend the Costa Blanca, which has many more flat bits than other parts of Spain. As to recommendations, it depends on their preferences, country or seaside. Where we have ours, in Torrevieja, the development has been tremendous, but this brings the benefits of shops, doctors etc, plus many English people who live there on a permanent basis, so you would always find someone to talk to if you are of a sociable nature. The sea front area has a very nice promenade with the usual cafes and restaurants, but because this is not a holiday town, and has few hotels, you tend not to get the rowdy youngsters.
In the country on the other hand, you may have to drive miles to a supermarket, there are unlikely to be medical services close at hand, and, in my own opinion, you are likely to die of boredom unless you are a keen gardener.
As I said before, if they are retired they would be best advised to rent a property for a few weeks/months and find an area they like before committing to a purchase0 -

:rotfl: :rotfl: Yes his profits will have because the market is saturated as someone else mentioned!
It's a good time for buyers though because many people are willing to drop prices to get a sale. A lot of them fell for the agents line that a mortgage wouldn't matter because they could rent all year round. The Germans are selling up because their government have hit them with a tax on second homes and so, overall, there are some good bargains to be had. I agree you should go over in person, choose your area and then check the local papers and the se vende signs - there are plenty around!
Good luck - it was the best purchase we ever made but then we paid cash and bought it purely for ourselves and not to rent so we haven't been stung as some people have!0 -

We bought an apartment with Atlas a couple of years ago, off plan. Although now it is working out, they certainly told us, well let's just call them porkies. When we challenged them about a few things, they informed us that the Atlas agents that showed us the properties on our inspection visit didn't work for them (very odd)!
I was told by a different Atlas agent and I really don't know if this is true, that Iberian was owned and managed by the daughter of the CEO of Atlas.
Hope this helps!0
