hi all,
im trying to find a good bank to heap my savings in. this link was helpful:
http://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/
i will probably go with ICICI BANK. but i need an account that i can set up a standing order with (was never able to do this with ing!), so that each month some of my savings is being paid into a monthly savings account (pays more interest).
has anyone had any problems with ICICI BANK or have any suggestions?
many thanks

im currently with ing, but ing wont let you set up a standing order to move money away from them each month.
ICICI no good eh? i did read some negative stuff about them.0 -
no, i dont want to ever use ING again. i think im one of the many that are leaving them!
i just want a good savings account that erans me good interest, but that i can also set up a standing order to a monthly saving account (alliance and leeister for example).0 -
Halifax Websaver is one I know of.
Most top rate accounts limit functionality such as this.
Alliance S-O to monthly saver has to come from their current account and cannot be amended or viewed.0 -

On 16 Nov. I completed an online application for a joint account with my husband. The same day I received an email from ICICI thanking me for my application and advising I would soon receive info re the next steps.
On 21 Nov. I received an email advising me to send a cheque for £1 to start the account. I sent this on 22 Nov.
We then each received a barrage of about 30 emails reminding us to send the cheque.
I have just received a letter plus my original cheque (2 weeks later) telling me they cannot accept the cheque because the account number and sort code do not match the ones I gave in the application. I have double checked everything, so has my husband, it all matches.
I have now told them by email that as they are unable to process the info I wish to terminate my application.
Perhaps I'm being impatient but I just don't feel confident in carrying on with the application and then transferring more money.0 -

I've been with ICICI for just over 14 months and apart from a couple of issues with the website (more my fault than theirs) have been completely satisfied. I may be one of the lucky ICICI customers but I would advise you to give them a call (Freephone number too!) or go to the website and check out the rates.

Can you not just look on their websites? I've never heard of banks emailing out details of their accounts like this. Am fairly certain they'd just send you links anyway...0 -

You can set up an SO FROM a Hfax Webby? Really, had one for ages and never knew this!0 -
ICICI 100% OK with me. Numerous deposits, withdrawls over the the past 12 months. No problems whatsoever.
There are literally dozens of threads relating to ICICI in this forum. Do a quick search for them and assess for yourself, but remember most people only comment when things go wrong. When all is well nothing is said and that applies to the majority of their account holders.0
