Hi oshb5 - It's in your own interests to check this meter asap, then if it is under-recording report this to your supplier.
Though you may want to switch in June, it's still only May 9th, so you have still got 22 days to do the simple Fan heater/Fire test which only takes an hour, and then report it to your present supplier if it is under-recording.
It's imortant you sort this now because the likelyhood is that if you do have a "slow" meter, sooner or later a supplier will realise this and send you BIG estimated bill for the power you have used but not paid for
Not wanting to get involved in the moral issues here.
However how would they ever find out? i.e. realise?
Even if they did find out, when did the meter go faulty?
Changing to another supplier would mean it would never be discovered.
We tend to forget there is only computers involved in the billing process; i.e. bills are untouched by human hand!
I have an annex that uses very little electricity. I had a bill that was a large over-estimate and not corrected.
The next quarter the meter was reading below that estimated reading, so for two consecutive quarters I fudged the meter reading to be just 1kWh higher than previously - the computer didn't pick up on this and produced a normal bill for 1kWh(and I got a fixed discount)0 -
why don't you ring your last supplier and tell them that their reading may be wrong, too high?0

Hi
I think I am going to do the kettle test and then i should have a good idea if it is the meter or not If I think it is at fault I will change suppliers and Let the new supplier know that I think it is wrong. If it looks right then i will stay with the present supplier. As to poking the old supplier, Same has already been said on here "WHEN DID it go faulty" would no doubt be there excuse Would it not? That to me is paid and water under the bridge right?
Can i just ask what is the chance of having a new faulty meter fitted that has been in for recalibration and what ever else they do too them?

Why are you worrying? I only use 3-4KWh per day at this time of year. It's highly unlikely that the meter is faulty.0
