I thought that each voucher had a unique code that was matched to your cc? A few weeks ago, a self-scan would not allow me to use a clubcard voucher until I scanned my clubcard.

Also, the cashier does not check the name/number as it says in the T&Cs that vouchers can be pooled by people in one household.

Clubcard vouchers and the extra points coupons that come with them do not have a code that matches to your cc. You just have to have scanned any cc first, to use them. You are not supposed to use other people's vouchers (except in the same household) but because they do scan there is quite a trade in them on eBay I have heard...;)

  • I always use my cc vouchers in Tesco just before Christmas. It's basically because none of the deals are suitable for us and we can't be bothered going through the hassle of selling deals tokens on ebay. It's still a bonus having our xmas shopping paid for us!!

I agree, I'm sick of people saying not to spend these in store but to use them on deals, why waste them on something you don't want or need just because they are worth four times more, surely £40 worth of shopping for free is better than paying £40 for your shopping and getting something that you weren't going to by in the first place free? Even Martin says to exchange them for deals. At the moment I am saving mine up to go on ebay, but if it turns out I can't be bothered to list them I will spend them in tescos.
    It's definitely not definately!

Just to keep you updated...Tesco said they would investigate and when I didn't hear anything back from them, I phoned CS again and they told me they had been re-issued. Finally received them this week, hoorah!
No idea what happened to the original lot, someone has got a freebie out of it.

:T Nice to hear you got them back eventually, its hard work earning the points.:T
  • if you use the fast pay tills, you scan them yourselves so could use any voucher and dont even need to use a club card, bit of info for you

  • Hi I have have moved quite a bit but over the last year I have been using my clubcard again, but have not received any vouchers or statements through the post so I emailed them a few months back with addy and saying I had not received anything and they said that not everyone does all the time. I tried to ring them up this week with no on their site but didnt work so emailed them again with add since you should receive things quarterly and had no reply. Anyone else in the same boat? Thanks

I'd have agreed with some here who posted about free shopping v voucher deals because initially the voucher deals weren't that comprehensive.

However. . . Looking at our spend in recent months, we used £50 vouchers to buy £200sworth of airline tickets for next year's holiday, £10 in vouchers for £40sworth of airport car parking, around £20 in vouchers for magazine subscriptions to 'Olive', 'Good Housekeeping', and the excellent 'BBC History Magazine', which we've assigned as Christmas gifts to friends / relatives, total value up to £80. Our RAC membership was also financed by the vouchers and we had a pretty good weekend hotel break in The Lake District, also courtesy the vouchers. We don't have kids of an age to be interested in theme park visits and we're too far London & The Southeast to take advantage of the offers there.

But to say that Tesco simply isn't offering enough variety in its current deals program is very unfair: friends of ours have just used £60 of vouchers to buy a beautiful necklace from Goldsmiths with a display ticket price of £240.

One thing to note: in every case where we've used a voucher purchase, our Tesco Clubcard-linked home address has not only been the address to which things have been sent, that address backed by further ID (driving licence) has also been sought by partners when fulfilling the deals.

Quite how selling the vouchers on eBay is going to benefit the winning bidder escapes me: Tesco really has tightened up on deals.

Not in the same boat but 2 thoughts about this....

    1. On your receipts you should be able to see how many points you accumulated up to November; did the points total go down then (suggesting that vouchers had been sent out to an address for you?).

    2. IMHO supermarkets are rubbish at replying to emails but quite helpful over the telephone. I have spoken to Tesco Clubcard CS a couple of times this hyear and they sorted out my queries straight away. The phone number is on your Clubcard I think, why not give them a ring after the Bank Hols.

HTH and Merry Christmas one and all!
