Fed up...........

Hi

I went for an interview in Feb after taking vol redundancy, then had second interview, was informed we would know by Friday and asked were we seeking other work, it took nearly two weeks to be told I did have the job, had to go in and fill in CRB forms, told a start date of 3rd May, so signed off, an hour after I did I received a call saying they had not had everyones (4 of us starting) checks back so they would be postponing for another week, I have now dealt with 4 different people over this and not had calls when said I would, got a call last night saying mine had come back with an issue over not enough info on my addresses, he said he will call me at some point today and somebody else will be in the building and could I go back and fill another form in, well the info will be exactly the same wont it and will I be waiting another month to hear back from CRB, I am feeling really fed up at the mo...... what would you do???

thanks
sam

    I've been Money Tipped!
Could the jobcentre call the company on your behalf to 'clarify' the start dates? An official approach might get them to think about things a bit more at least.

Did your contract have conditions that the start date was dependant on the CRB?

If you have an aggreed unconditional offer with a start date then they should be paying you unless the contract has terms that allow them to not pay(still need to pay some money even with lay offs).

Now if you want to push this and risk the job is something to think about.

    Hi
Thanks for that, well I have a letter stating the start date but it also says this offer is subject to references and confirmation that I do not have unspent convictions, so I guess this lets them off.
I was told yesterday I would receive a call and could I go to the office and fill in more CRB forms, I am still awaiting that call.

    thanks

An offer with conditions cannot have a proper start date for most people because they should not resign till he offer is uncondiional so cannot agree any date without conditions.

Not so handy for you not actualy working.

The mistake was signing off without an unconditional offer.

Sign back on and make this a condition that you won't agree to any new start date without an unconditional offer.

When the CRB was sent back with the query, it should have made clear what the problem was.

Sometimes it's a case of a 'gap' or an overlap in your address history which hasn't been picked up before the form was sent off, or an address which isn't complete (usually sorted by checking on Royal Mail website.

When you go in, ask to see the returned form so you know what the problem is.

Thanks for that Sue, well I never received a call back on Friday, the chap that phoned me said it does not say what it is on the form from the CRB he is guessing I was maybe not on the electoral register, so another form is not going to change it is it, to be totally honest Sue, I am not getting good feelings about this company at all now, at least have the decency to call me and explain when they say they are going to.
