child tax credit renewal question

Hi just need a bit of advice,our payments for tax credits went down from april for year 2011/2012 as they was based on on 2010/2011 income.we have yet to recieve a renewal pack.as my partner is eanring 3 grand less this year. she phoned to tell them and they adjusted the figures.they asked about my earnings for this year my wife said a few hundred pound more but was told to wait till we get renewal pack for my earnings.i understand this may knock down this years entitledment slightly but will it effect last years payments.we worked out overal our earnings we give combined for last year where correct.so am i right in thinking when we renew with both figures and they basing it on current years ernings as its less then last tax year it will only effect this years entiltment

right, so your partners earnings for the tax year thats just began is down 3k and yours up by a few hundred? Earnings for this year wont affect last years award, just earnings from April '10 to April '11. There's a 10k ignore point so unless your income is over £10,000 more than you declared they wont ask you to pay it back

am i right then that even though partner has told tax credits this year they will earn 3k less thos year,me telling them on renewal i will be getting an extra 500 this year will only effect this years tax credit as my partner was told as we getting less this year our tax credits payments for 2011/2012 will be based on 2011/2012 earnings

hi is there any experts who can confirm im right in saying it will only effect this years tax credit as my partner had phoned to say thier income is 3k less this year.so payments have gone up.but as they said wait for renewal regarding my income for this my 500 pound extra this tax year will only change current years tax credits.

Helen yes the £500 will only effect the new award not the old one it would only effect the old one if it went up by £10k or more :-)
