Changing short date

I'm required to use a particular email application for work and I use the webmail version as I'm out and about using different computers. However I can't change the short date in it from US style to UK style. I've checked most things I can think of, and no other applications give me this annoying date. Can anyone tell me what I should do to sort this out? It's the same on my iphone too so not sure where the problem lies.
