I too would recommend The captain Underpants books. The Red House are doing box set of 8 for £10. My son who is 7 loves them so I have bought the set for Christmas. Dr Seuss books are great for the 5 year old, son has been collecting them and now my 5 year old loves them too and very easy to read too. The red House has quite a few box sets at great prices - Postage is free if you spend over £25.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

If the older boy is into football then books by Rob Childs will be good. If he is older in outlook (if you know what I mean) then consider some of the Diamond Brother books by Anthony Horowitz they are roughly based on old detective stories - like the Maltese Falcon - but made more suitable for their age group. However they do include bombs, police chases etc so be warned. I heartily recommend them for encouraging boys into reading.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060

Julia Donaldson books are great, my sons and I think "the whale and the snail" is fun. I've bought them more of her books for xmas.
My nearly 7 yr old has just read an "astrosaur" book which he enjoyed, it's about dinosaurs in space. I can't remember who wrote it though, I do there is a series of them.0
