As some of you may be aware I have post a few threads on here about my dd and her behaviour and emotional problems. After being pushed from here to there and back again I finally got a referral acceptance from CAMHS a few weeks back. I rang them today to see how long the wait was and they said there were 12 people infront of dd and anticipate she will get an appt in June/July.
Then I remembered someone on here telling me about parent partnership (cant remember who but thankyou) and gave them a ring. The lady I spoke to was wonderful and so helpful. She gave me lots of advice. I explained about dd being over 5 years behind educationally and shes only on sen school action with no IEP or anything and only 4 hours help a week. The lady i spoke to told me she should be getting more help and an IEP and because of the behaviour she's exhibiting (wont wash, talks to herself,hearing voices etc) and camhs are now involved she should be on school action plus atleast. They have told me to put in writing I want a caff meeting as they keep fobbing me off and they are going to represent me
I also explained how the school refused to refer dd to an education psychologist on the request of the doctor and she told me to ring him myself and gave me the details and I got a great suprise. The local ed psy (after I explained the situation) said he feels he can help. He said he has a trainee who worked for camhs and is a fully qualified teacher with lots of experience that is looking to work with a child like dd and can give her alot more 1 to 1 time than he could and can also do some theraputic work with her. He said do not be put off that shes a trainee as she is very good. He also said he emailed the school 2 weeks ago to see if they have a child they could put forward but have had no reply so I got there first. I'm so happy. He also said she will be able to start working with dd straight away and I should hear back by next week at the latest for an appt.
Perhaps now I can start to get some help and the school will take me seriously

Thank goodness you and your DD are finally getting somewhere, well done for taking matters into your own hands. :grouphug:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

well done, i thought there was already a CAF meeting set up?0

Keep pushing hun. If you are not happy with how your child is being dealt with - then the moral of the story is to push (explore other avenues) and KEEP pushing! Well done you.0

You have to keep pushing and making noise to make sure you get all the help you need!
I have a 5yr old son with behavioural problems who currently has an IEP, School Action Plus funding with a full statement of education needs due next week. My son is seeing an educational psychologist and a paediatrician but also needs a referral to CHAMS, due to a change of referral processes I have to attend a 12 week parenting course (starting tomorrow) before they will see him again.
I understand how frustrating it is trying to get the help when it is obvious to you that your child really does need the help.
I hope that things get better for you soon.0 -

The Caff wasn't actually set up, the head of year said she would set one up before they broke up for easter but thats the 2nd time she said it and it never happens. She wont return my calls or see me when I go into the school so I rang parent partnership for advice and they were brill.
I looked at the note the senco put in my daughters book for me mid march and it actually says she has a reading age of 7.06 (she is 12 and 1/2) so she is actually more than 5 years behind, I cant believe she is still only on school action.
If they dont agree to move her up to SAP at the caff meeting then can I appeal this somehow, although I think now that an education psychologist will be working with her I have a better chance of getting her the help she needs
)
Oh the school also told me yesterday that they received the dla forms but she doesnt exhibit any of the behaviour at school so basically wrote a glowing report on the dla form so that will be turned down. Funny though, they are phoning me every other week about her (truanting, shop lifting, stealing off school members, disruptive in class etc). They also know i'm having problems getting her to school as she walks into the road but no doubt they will have marked this as being fine to.0
