Lovely old Kitchens Direct... who never even bothered to turn up for a couple of appointments to give a quote.
Not long after their sales manager rang up to see if I was happy with my quote. When I told him he said he would investigate and call me back. I told him not to bother. The man without a signature.0 -
With me it it's quite simple. I didn't buy a telephone so that telesales droids can annoy me.
They have ignored my TPS listing and pestered me, therefore they started it. If I'm in a good mood I'll ask for their name and company details, then report them to the TPS. After that I get nasty.

Ah yes the wonderful kitchens direct who never showed up to my apt as it was a mrs on the booking and not mr, and they would not attend an appointment without husband being present as the wife cannot make the final decision so was wasting their time??? Erm I got the final say on my kitchen and also asked what if inlived alone? They couldn't answer that one!!!!!0 -
My OH had a call from a company claiming that they could help him if he'd recently been injured in an accident. He built their hopes up by saying, yes, he had. They asked him what had happened. His reply was 'I've recently been decapitated - can you help me with this please?' - they were silent for a moment, then put the phone down. Haven't phoned back either!0

I've had this attitude from Kitchen companies, double glazing companies, conservtory companies etc etc.
I book an appointment - Mrs V is normally off helping at School or keeping High Street profits up. The salesman turns up and notices that it's just me (they're sharp like that!)
"Where's Mrs V?" asks !!!!!!
"Err, not here... " I reply
"I'm sorry I can't give you a quote without your wife being here. I'll book another appointment for when she can be here." says Numbuts.
"Don't bother !!!!!!. I wanted a quote. I was prepared to sign today if the quote was acceptable. Get out."
I can understand the tiny rationale behind it. People want to discuss things yet the salesman wants an easy sale. If he thinks that anyone who wants to think about it rather than sign away is unreasonable when they are spending x thousand pounds then it's the salesman in la la land. The man without a signature.0 -

I think you're absolutely right.
I've heard of salesmen who would start to question a man's masculinity if he wouldn't sign until he'd spoken to his wife. (Presumably he'd question her independence if he was talking to a woman). Probably there are salesmen who wouldn't stoop that low but who, nonetheless, don't want their targets to have any easy 'out' from signing there and then. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
If anyone on this thread is a business owner, then no doubt you will of come across a newspaper group called Journal Publishing Company, who now call them selves Media Today and Wyvern Media.
If you have had dealings with them, then please search "jpc" in the forums and leave your comments. If you have not yet had dealings with them, then first of all you're a very lucky person, but please read anyway so that you are conned out of money like some of the people on the thread.
This is a newspaper group, with a very BAD reputation for taking money off credit/debit cards without authorisation, they lie about readership figures and many of the newspapers are only 8 pages long!
Please also see blagger(dot)com and see the comments on that site when you search - JPC or Journal Publishing Company or Lincolnshire Telegraph or Media Today or Wyvern Media, its endless!0 -
An email I received today to my business email account. I get a lot of this type of email for all sort of databases including ones with telephone numbers but I find this one a bit odd for some reason I'm not sure of.
I've not include it all, just some of it. Anyone want to spend £300 on a few email addresses?
The company is rockpooldata but I've not heard of them before
