Let it be said I like VM - we have TV, phone and BB package and have recently paid to have the new tivo box installed - and so far its all ticketty boo.
Yesterday OH was checking through the phone bill only to see we'd been charged for a week end call, we have a call anytime package, so he phoned to get them to check it.
Sure enough we'd been charged for the call so the handler went off to investigate.
Turns out - it was because OH 1471'ed a call and instead of redialling the number from scratch - he hit "3" to return the call, which them wasn't included in the call anytime package - clever eh, if a bit naughty?
We were never told this and the operator OH spoke to didn't know about it either - so how can VM be informing their customers correctly?

Well if this is VM's fault, then it must be the fault of all the other CP's then as neither BT nor Primus (who I'm with now) informed me either. When you press 1471,you get the message "You were called today at .blah blah...to return the call,press#3".It's a lot easier to press #3 than try & remember the number,(I know I've done it) so maybe your O/H should shoulder some of the blame as well..0

It's been common knowledge for years that phone companies charge you if you select the option to automatically make the call for you.
It's also in the T&C's of your contract, so the blame rests entirely with your OH I'm afraid.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
BT now charges a 'facility fee' of 17p just for pressing 3 after 1471 (or 0 after 1571) regardless of whether the return call connects or not. Per minute charges then apply if connection is made.
http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=28921Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I think it would be legit to charge a facility fee for hitting 3 for callback. But in my book, it would be wrong to charge for the call itself if the package is described as free calls.Miss_Poohs wrote: »Turns out - it was because OH 1471'ed a call and instead of redialling the number from scratch - he hit "3" to return the call, which them wasn't included in the call anytime package - clever eh, if a bit naughty?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
