Parking Ticket in a College Car Park, do I have a chance?

I've been issue a parking ticket at college for 'Parking in a special enforcement area more than 50cm away from the edge of the carriageway and not within a designated parking place'

The area in question is a cul de sac at the bottom of a road, no houses, just a bit at the bottom of the road.

The cone you see is labelled with the college logo and these cones are used to denote areas college students can park in neighbouring streets as the college car park isn't big enough

The photos I've taken aren't the best and they were taken at the end of the day (4pm), but the ticket was issued at 11am when the car park was fuller.

I parked more than 50cm off the kerb as there is a double yellow running down it, however, this is a designated parking area. I believe the land is owned by the college.

I'm a bit miffed as people regularly park there and there isn't a no parking sign. I also deliberately park a bit further away from the kerb as there are double yellow lines there, yet I'm being ticketed for not being close enough.

Can I contest this as it is a designated parking area? I'm also not causing an inconvenience to anybody by being there.

I forgot to mention that this is a Council Parking Ticket issued under the traffic management act et. al (thanks taffy056 :))

I should add that my car is the white one

If it is a council ticket I would advise you goto http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30 and seek advice fromthe regulars on there.

Double yellows on private land can be ignored however if they are council then you might have to cough up if you appeal and lose.

Question for you, why park further away from the curb because there are DY's ?
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

In hindsight I realise it was a stupid decision, as it's either a parking area or not and if it's not the dyl don't count.

    Thanks, I'll post on pepipoo..

And just to let you know, if DYL do count, then parking away from them doesn't help! For instance, on a road, DYL apply across the WHOLE carriageway so even if you park up on a grass verge the DYL still apply right across from pavement to pavement.

In your case it's not clear whether these DYL would apply - and most Council PCNs can be successfully appealed so go for it, with pepipoo's help along the way.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Hi...

Spoke to the people on pepipoo who advised me that I was !!!!!!ed and should pay.

Also spoke to the security guys at college who say it's not a college parking area.... everyone parks there and theres a college parking cone there.

They blamed that on someone else; said they didn't put it there. Plausible, but unlikely.

Bleurgh - win some; lose some.

    Thanks for your help :)
