  • Hi there

Have to say I don't agree. eg I bought a Bush wide screen tv some years ago (not a premium brand) which was half the price of a premium brand equivalent and it worked, and still works, just fine.

Another example from a different product - my father in law was a tailor and made leather jackets for a variety of buyers including Harrods and sew in the label of the store, be it a local shop or a premium brand like Harrods. The jackets were exactly the same, it was just the labels that were different...

I thought it was a rebadged Thomson?

The Teco's that are going around apparently are rebadged Viewsonics.

Even so, i'd still rather go for a premium branded TV myself.

Basically the smaller value the response rate, the quicker the image updates.
The higher the contrast ratio the better the image quailty (rule of thumb).
The bigger the resolution the better/crisper the image.

I think that's largely true for monitors, but is it true for stand-alone TVs?

As far as I'm aware, the main difference between cheapo LCDs and expensive name-brands isn't so much the quality of the panels,as it is the quality of the electronics and software that interpolates the SD image to make it bearable on a screen that has a native resolution that's really only suitable for viewing HD sources.

If the TV we watch now was HD as standard, the cheapos would reign supreme.

I hope that makes sense! :)

If you call Argos for availability they arent so up-to-date as you think, I wanted to buy a popular mobile phone and checked to see if they had it in all of the stores in the SouthEast. They all said sold out... went to my local store the same day and they had 15 in stock.

I work for Argos, and you will find that deliveries to the store are released around lunchtime, so they may not show up as being in til then, but theres a chance there is some on todays delivery.
My tip is to wait until lunchtime, then check.

deliveries to stores vary throughout the day, my old store used to have 6am deliveries, whereas my current store delivery is at 6.45pm

Tesco in Poole have a 32" Goodmans GTVL32W25HD for £399.97
Cannot see it online anywhere though? looks exactly the same as this: http://www.goodmans.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?pid=GTVL32W8HD&language=en-GB

The GTVL32W8HD (from Goodmans) & GTVL32W25HD (from Tesco) are very similar, if not the same?
