Hi can anyone tell me what is the best set to get ? I deliberately held out waiting for the complete collection to come out but now am not sure if i would lose out from buying all the series individual extended box sets! So do you get more scenes etc by buying the Lotr , Two towers & ROTK extended box sets or are you best buying the whole lot extended set ?

You can get the 4 disc extended versions individually quite cheap. They are excellent and the extra scenes are well worth paying the extra for. The cheapest place to get them all at the moment is Amazon Jersey

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000066DY0/qid=1109421974/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-5028116-0956457
click on Amazon Jersey link on the right for Fellowship extended at £12.87.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009RGAA/qid=1109421886/ref=pd_ka_0/026-5028116-0956457
again, click on the Amazon Jersey link on the right to get Two Towers extended for the amazing price of £8.68.

    And finally:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002I10FY/qid=1109422123/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-5028116-0956457
for Return of the King - again the Jersey link gets it for £17.49.

As for the collectors box that started this thread, I just ordered 2 x Two Towers at £16.97 - a bargain. Once they're sold out they go right up in value quite quick. Fellowship fetches £70+ on ebay already.
    BE NICE - IT'S FREE!
  • also point out if you hav a nix dvd shop nr you they are selling the 2 towers box set for £10 or you can get 3 for £25 Still got them in Christchurch if anyones near there

What's the state of play with the Extended Trilogy boxset? It looks like WHsmith are not going to give me one for a fiver so I'm out hunting for the cheapest. The best price I can see is Amazon.co.uk where it is about £43 incl p&p. Is there anywhere better? I seem to remember around it's launch date that there were some offers for around the low 30s, are these still available?

Well they are a limited edition box set. As someone quoted above the first collectors edition 'fellowship of the ring' is now not available to get anywhere in shops anywhere online or on the highstreet, hence now its selling for £70+ on ebay.

So the way I see it the other 2 sets will go the same way. I don't know for sure but they have to really as they are limited.
