in Credit cards
hey, my GF is having trouble obtaining a credit card.
she applied at M&S and was declined, she then went to her bank and was also declined. we're looking to purchase a house in the near future and really need to sort her credit issues out, she hasnt had any form of credit for years other than a mobile phone contract. where do we go next? she rung M&S to see why she was declined n they told her basically its because she hasnt got any credit or anything coming to the address. any help would be much appreciated.

she's on the electoral roll?
and she's checked her credit records to see if there are any problems there?
she has an income?
normally the best bet would be her own bank as they will have an internal score about how she manages her account... she should ask them why they turned her down
as a first card she need to go for 'beginners cards' and not for ones with offers
so ... her own bank
vanquis, cap 1, barclaycard initial
they all have very high APRs but as she will pay in full each month then that won't matter0 -
Barclaycard Initial, Capital One Classic or Vanquis should accept her and get her started. Higher APR on these cards but if paid off in full leads to getting better more mainstream cards.
