Has anyone any advice please?

I've had to go onto 3 days work a week so I can look after my hubby (and myself)
He's had cancer and is very slowly recovering, it's going to be a long time, years, till he's anywhere near better, he also has epilepsy.

He has lower rate mobility and middle rate care DLA for his epilepsy, I'll be phoning DWP tomorrow to tell them about his cancer. He also gets IB.

I don't really think we're entitled to anything but if I had to stop work altogether would I be able to claim anything?

I'm on citalopraom and have been taking thyroxine for several years, I'm so shattered I can't think straight.
I'm not sure how to apply for DLA for myslef, or even if I should apply at all.

we've got a mortgage and the usual bills.

Hello BM, sorry to hear youre going through all this. Hope things go well with your hubby. And you of course.

As for you claiming DLA, its all down to care and mobility so i dont really think so. But mention it when you ring them anyway.

    Good luck and keep posting.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

As he already gets middle rate DLA you can apply for carers allowance.

Thank you DX2 but, it's not really enough to live on?
I dunno, I'm tired and not thinking straight. I just wish it would all be ok.

It could be, yes, thank you :)
So I'd not be able to stop work altogether but maybe go down to 2 days and I might be ok?

You'll be able to claim Carer's Allowance providing you don't earn more than £100 a week after allowable expenses (tax, National Insurance, half of pension contributions).

Are you claiming any benefits such as Housing Benefit? Your husband may be able to get a disability premium to increase the amount.

With your change in income you may be able to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax benefit which may include carer's premiums so that you get more benefit.
