Hi Everyone,

I've been downloading.mov files from a website. Most play fine but some will not play.

All the files are from the same author.

I'm on OS10.6.7 and Quicktime X is up to date.

Can anybody recommend a solution?

Thanks
SB

Yeah, Quicktime x doesn't come with that many codecs. I'd recommend downloading Perian to increase the number of codecs available in quicktime.

    http://www.perian.org/

Also download VLC to play anything quicktime cant handle.

Strange - VLC plays most things so if that doesn't work I'm not sure what will.

The strange thing is it's some files but not others.

I might send an email to the author.

Is Media Player Classic: Home Cinema compatible with your OS?

Maybe you could share the link, and we can test if the MOVs work for us.

As far as I know Media Player Classic is Windows only. It is good though I had it when on Windows.

The website in question needs a paid subscription so I'm not sure how useful it would be to post a link.

So it is, sorry. Is there an equivalent to Gspot you can use? See what the codec is.

Videospec says "The file is not recognised".

I emailed the author and he has confirmed the original file is corrupt.

    Thanks everyone for your help.
