Moving abroad with an IVA

Options
I currently have an IVA and am in my second year of payments. My husband has just been offered a job abroad so it will mean me giving up my job here and going with him. I would not work in the new country for at least the first six months. What would happen to my IVA over here as I don't want to just run away from it. Do I try to get the payments reduced in which case what happens when I have to produce expenditure details & payslips etc or is it best for me to file for bankruptcy.

    Hi munchkin.
Not too sure about this and I am sure somebody else will come along to help you soon enough.
I have read of others that have moved abroad whilst in an IVA. You will need to contact your IP and go through it all with them especially as you say you won't be working for the next 6 months or so. I think there is normally not much of a problem so long as you can keep up your payments. Would you be able to do this despite not working? I think also you would need to keep an eye on the exchange rate as that could affect things as it fluctuates. Definitely speak to your IP though.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help.
    Good luck :)
