Redundancy, training and benefits

Options
My husband is being made redundant on sat 7th may and gas decided to do re training through the react scheme.
He's been told by the income support people he can't claim because he us fit to work. I'm a full time mum to 3 young kids from 3 yrs to 10 weeks old do I'm not able to return to work yet!
As I understand you can only claim JSA if you are activly seeking work but as he will be on the training program he won't be able to look for work untill it's completed, as all families we have bills to pay and mouths to feed, does anyone know if we can claim income support we already claim child tax and plan to claim housing benefit next week, any advice would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks

Can he postpone the training and ensure that the finances are set up first for you as a family?

I am redudndant and trying to do the right thing for the family and know how stressful this time can be. Hang on in there.

    Good luck
