Partner injured at work-what can we do?

Hi there,
My partner was injured (thankfully not life threatening) at work which ended up as emergency amputation of the the Big Toe that which has resulted in being unable to walk properly and work for the foreseeable future at the moment according to the dr's and consultants
we've just moved into a private rented home (before the accident) and have fortunately been granted some LHA to assist us which will really help.
Is there anything else we can apply for just for the time being until we're both working again? I work full time and earn 20k a year, no children. (unless you count the dog and cat
)
Any help much appreciated
thanks a lot

My OH was injured at work and also had to have his big toe amputated, it was years ago and he thinks he was off work for about 6 months (he spent a month of that in hospital as they tried to save the toe). His employers continued to pay him his full wage for a while then half pay until he went back to work, luckily he still lived with his parents so never needed to claim any benefits.
Is your partner receiving any pay from work or SSP? If not he should claim ESA, hopefully he'd have paid enough NI contributions so he'd be able to get the contribution-based ESA. If he isn't eligible for contribution-based ESA I don't think he'd get income-based because you work full-time.

He should also claim Industrial Injuries (Accident) benefit if he was employed, and talk to a solicitor about claiming compensation from the employers insurance.0
