Self Employment?

I would like some advice about self employment. I work for a property company in London and live in Sussex. If i became self employed would i be able to claim my travel expences to and from London. I work in various locations around London looking after differant properties , carrying out repairs and general up keep of the buildings. Any comments greatly received.

Sorry did'nt mean claim. I meant would i be able to get tax allowance for travel expences and how much would it be . I currently spend £4,560 on travel.

Probably, if your office/main base is based outside of london then usually you could claim your travel expenses to your clients' premises as a business expenses which would reduce the amount of profit you make and therefore the tax that you pay.
Obviously it will depend on how much profit you make overall as to what rate of tax you pay and therefore what the effective tax relief was on the business expenses.

Yes you can claim tax relief if you are self employed as you do not have a regular place of work in your case it changes on a daily or weekly basis.Soi theoretically you are travelling from one place of work to another.
