I use a carpet man in Birmingham, but when it's too far, we use Carpet Right too.

Make sure you ask them for their best price. If you're doing the whole flat you should get a good 10% off. :)

  • On a similar note - where is the best place for tiles? We've got a 10 per cent off card with Topps...but can you suggest anywhere else?

Doozer - you must know! :p

Try and find a tile shop on a trading estate.

Tip..go in wearing work clothes (ie paint/grout splattered) and get discount for being in the trade...saved me hundreds :j

Yep, I'm with Tass, I think. We normally go to a place on a dingy trading estate in Redditch and yes, we get a trade discount. You can try saying you do up houses and see where that gets you! Won't get you very far in Topps... (tried it! :rotfl:)

I do find shoppping around is of benefit with tiles though because you often find end of line stuff for a really good price, even in the superstores.

Topps are generally better on price than the likes of B&Q when you apply the 1/3 discount for ordering over 4m2 (though B&Q do a great slate floor tile for about £8m2 ;))

  • If you do decide to use Carpet Right (just been looking at the website after reading this thread, as we'll have a new house in teh new year to carpet), you can get a 10% discount voucher e-mailed to you. THis discount is on top of any in-store sales or discounts you get.
