Hi There,
I have recently purchased some sun glasses from David Clulow Opticians, costing me £176. When I get home and have a proper look at them I am not over keen on them. When I go to take them back to the shop in their original condition, in the box and bag they were purchased in, with the receipt in order to get a refund the shop the assistant informs me they do not do refunds on sunglasses only exchanges. I was not told this when I purchased them and I do not wish to exchange them for another pair, I would just like my money back for the unwanted item.
Can you please help me, is there any way I can get my money back, do I have any legal rights?

In short, no.
Longer answer:
Your rights are that you can return them if faulty, nothing more. Any company policy is in addition to your statutory rights, and as such, if they choose not to offer refunds for unwanted items, they don't have to. You had the opportunity to examine them in the shop I presume, so why should the company be inconvenienced for you changing your mind?0 -

Whenever buying anything from a shop you should always assume that returns and refunds for a change of mind are not allowed unless the store policy specifically states that they will allow this.
Shops are under no obligation to inform you of what the law does or doesn't allow with regards to your purchases.0
